Law Office of Jason D Jones, P.C.

A client-centered approach to estate planning and administration.

Protecting your family’s future is my main concern.

I have always had a strong interest in trusts & estates.  My practice allows me the unique privilege to assist families and individuals when they are experiencing a change in their lives, grieving over the loss of loved ones, or preparing for their golden years. These families and individuals require someone to present options on the best way to generate and distribute wealth, select the proper fiduciaries, and navigate the complex procedures of probate, administration and miscellaneous proceedings in the Surrogate’s Court.

My process always begins with a free telephone or Skype conversation to determine a client's immediate and long-term goals. I will inquire gently but candidly about their family relationships that impact how they want to leave their bequests and which they might be uncomfortable sharing with family members. For example, certain clients might wish to provide for a child who is wasteful with money differently than a financially responsible daughter.   Other clients are aggrieved that someone has taken advantage of a loved one and want assets turned over to them. Lastly, many clients have requested me to refresh outdated estate plans or review potential estate settlements.

Prior to entering Fordham Law School, I focused on East Asian Studies, studied Japanese and lived and worked abroad in Japan. When I returned to the US, I strengthened my knowledge of corporate, financial and trusts & estates matters as a paralegal at small and large New York City law firms.  While at Fordham Law, I interned at the Queens County Surrogate's Court in probate, accounting and administration departments and the Safe Horizon Domestic Violence Law Project.  Deciding to focus on all matters trusts & estates related, I trained on international trusts & estates matters at Heidner Law Firm P.C. and on domestic estate matters at Eisenberg & Baum LLP. I created my own law office in 2018 because I wanted to focus more intensively on my clients and to have greater access to them. When I take on a client, I intend to assist them for the long term. As my clients’ lives and circumstances change, so will their estate plans and it is my duty to steer them in the best way I can. I am dedicated to crafting compassionate and sound estate plans for all types of families and individuals in accordance with their wishes and my work is more than a career for me - it is a calling.
